This is so helpful. If you gain, then take some away until you get it figured out! Just wanted to say that I have lost almost 30 pounds and I am 83 years old and not able to exercise at all.

I just have another 15 lbs to go! I too am IS this the same as Smart Points? Will the points be different as far as how many I am allowed? Will I still get extra points? You are a true angel. I seriously just could not at the time afford to join Weight Watchers in a formal way. My husband and I look forward to the meals each night instead of feeling like we are on a diet. Find things you love, and keep it fresh. There are so many ways you can eat what you love without hating every meal. If they are raw, they are free.

If they are cooked, you need to calculate what they were cooked in. Avocados are not free due to the amount of fat they contain. Check out the new WW program. Minimum points now are Eggs, beans, chicken and turkey breast are all zero points. A serving of corn or peas are also zero.

I was going through this and your link to the PP calculator needs to be updated. I had weight watchers information on their old system and was going based on that.

I was wondering if I can follow this plan while pregnant? And if so how do i adjust the points if needed? I gained over 50 pounds with my first daughter and havent lost it all yet, and now im pregnant.

I just dont want to gain another 50lbs. I kept it up while pregnant with Dr approval. Why would you want to lose weight while pregnant?

Also, canned fruits in its own juice with no added sugar is 0 points plus and frozen unsweetened fruit. Not sure about the canned fruit sweetened with Splenda. WOW; I love this! If you have a smart phone you can download the WW app or a points finder app for 2 dollars. This is so great. I did WW after my first child and went from a size 12 to a size 6 in 2 months! Make sure you bookmark this blog post! This is what I have been looking for. Since most restaurants post their menus with nutritional information, it is a snap to cut, paste and insert a formula. So far it works perfectly for points plus. I know that potatoes do even raw, any variety white, sweet, etc Corn does, Avocado def does etc. This is a list of some 0 point foods. Lori — most fruits and veggies are 0 points. Starches potatoes, corn, some peas are excluded. Bobby Jo — WW actually measures your weight every week and your daily alowance tends to change with every pounds lost. Every birthday counts against you too.

I am really excited, but also really scared…. I have battled forever and cannot seem to stick with anything long enough like 4 days one week at the most!! I believe on the Points Plus plan, there are 49 flex points for the week no matter what your weight. I thought it was 35? This was from a few years ago. Awesome, thanks so much! I do have one question; I am breast feeding my 9 month old. I think I would be fine with the 7 extra, although I just switched from the old system to the new points plus this morning lol.

You really want to use all of the points allotted so as not to affect your supply. And one more thing! The points balance for my current and goal weight is the same, how can that be? Not while pregnant, of course. This info is going to save me so much time! I have been doing ww for a while and there is some changes coming. I and a lot of members at my meeting think they are changing things for pregnancy. Keep an eye out for the changes. Is this calculator set on maintaining or losing weight??

I dont think they actually had granola in them, but you made the oats in the crock pot and then put them in a pan wax paper lined and baked them. Please oh Please if you know of this recipe please let me know!!!! Ive been doing weight watchers for a couple of months now and I can confirm that the numbers I get from the links posted here are pretty darn close to the ones from weight watchers.

A point is off here and there. Couple of cool things to know though are: Do it at the same time and try to wear the same clothes…or none at all! I guess thats the glory of doing it at home — Most fruits and veges are free ie: Use your judgement I suppose. Weight it and measure it and I mean everything.

Little sips and tastes can add up. Have you lost weight on the WW program? I do not have a problem with the points idea, I just cannot get my weight to budge like everyone else can. I guess it is my being 42 or something, but I gained 20 pounds in a few months and did not do anything to encourage that and now I cannot budge it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry, what exactly do you mean by staggering calories? Yep, that is totally a typo — sorry! Staggering calories has been known to help bust you out of a plateau: Make sure you eat enough protein. Keep an eye on your sodium intake too. I am 42 also and have noticed that the weight comes off slower that when I was younger. Keep working at it and you will lose the weight!!

One of my friends got stuck — took her 6 months to lose 16 lbs. The 2nd 6 months she lost 50lbs. I have done Weight Watchers online for 2 years and am now in maintenance. Just FYI… there is a phenomenal meal planning service that gives you breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and dessert every week with PointsPlus calculated. I use it and recommended it to my friend who is cash crunched.

Then to figure out the points in food you need to know the calories, protein, fiber and carbs in the item. You put that into the Points Plus Calculator and viola you know how many points in that item. Also, you can google the item to get the nutritional info.

The higher the fiber and protein the lower the points value. Hi carbs raise the points value. Hope that helps you!! I just found this on Pinterest, and I am sooooo happy! I too am a full time breastfeeding mama of 2 and although I have lost 52lbs already w hard work and nursing, I still have about 30lbs until I am at my healthiest weight. I am hoping this program will help get m there.

Can anyone tell me how to calculate the number of daily points if I am on maintenance using the plan? Just please be mindful of not depriving yourself. I just wanted to report my friend has been doing Weight Watchers simply by using tools found on this post. She just could not afford doing Weight Watchers online right now.

I double checked her PointsPlus with my online tools and the PointsPlus she was given matched what the calculator said. She has already lost 7 pounds. It is shrinking on a budget. What info do you enter here? Is it food label info? If so, how do you get the points of chicken, pork, etc? I would really like to lose about 15lbs just for health reasons. Thanks for your help. Yes, you enter the food label info into the food point calculator. For foods without a label like meats, fruit, etc. I knew that as long as I made healthy choices, I was on plan. The points were more of a jumping off point: Googling something is never my first thought!!!

Thank you so much for this info! I joined WW last year and lost 26 lbs in 5 months. I then got pregnant with my 2nd babe and had to stop. I know how it all works but needed to know the extra points for breastfeeding.

She is still nursing pretty full time but she does get formula and has currently started on rice cereal. I am going to start with the 7 points and add the other if needed. I wanted to let those know who are looking into this that it is all pretty accurate. I found when I was on the system last year and attending meetings I was still eating what I normally ate but was eating less and the weight started to come off.

I entered my info on the link Ashley provided, it gave me 26 points. But again, portion control as well as moving more, you will see a difference in the scale! Would you happen to have a link or something with the recipe builder.

You can so do it! I had success twice with WW many years ago and would love to do it again but have a couple of questions please. I checked and my points are 39 per day but another link on here said 26 for daily target what is that?

So I got it for three months and my pharmacist warned me they won't be able to get it. Yes it was better than Levothyroxine I didn't feel like a balloon but I guess I was ok then most of them but my blood levels on it was totally hyper with hypo symptoms.

I know I had to do something because what am I going to take after I am done with Levoxyl? So I tried to go back to Levothyroxine and OMG my ankles and my legs swelled up like I was pregnant for few days so I switched back to Levoxyl and it went away. I am trying to work out 4 to 5 days, eating healthy foods but it is not shedding any weight. I just got my Tonalin CLA supplement that reduce body fats, today and started taking that. I know it is a slow process so lets see what happens.

And they need to seriously check that medication. It has a lot of bad symptoms. I don't understand why FDA would take down Levothyroid with worked for me and I am sure it worked for others too and replace it with Levothroxine which is causing bad symptoms.

I think when we have hypothyroid it makes it worse to shed weight because our metabolism is totally controlled by our thyroid gland. No matter how much or what kind of medication we take for our thyroid it will never be same as what our body produces naturally.

Doctors always look at only the blood test and within the range. As long as you are within that range you are good and they don't really care about our symptoms. I was on only 10 milligrams , gained weight, stopped taking it and dropped 11lbs in two weeks, would rather be tired than feel miserable all the time when I was taking it.

Yep, happened to me. I will tell you what I did but I am not sure it is safe for everyone. I cranked up my T4 when I was on Levo, that enabled me to generate enough T3 to become "normal" again. I think I pushed myself into a little bit "Hyper" just a little bit because I didn't have to eat carefully, I didn't have to exercise , nothing, the weight just peeled off.

I felt normal for 2 years. Then something awful happened, my doctor retired and my next doctor who was an Endo said that my TSH was too low and told me to reduce my dose, I did as I was told I will never do that again!

I still got the "lets reduce your dose" line, but this time I am increasing the dose on my own, and my weight is dropping. Doctors are hung up on this TSH reading and will not measure T3, the very hormone which will make us feel normal and give us the energy to move around and therefore not put on weight. There are so many reports of these symptoms, I don't know why nothing changes. I have been on it about 8 months and i swear i'm gaining weight.

How is this possible. Will the weight gain slow down. I have been on Levo for approx 3 years. Never had a weight problem.

Right away I began gaining weight and it is still climbing. I eat very little. I don't trust the medical profession anymore.

It is big business and it all revolves around money. I am thinking of discontinuing this Med also. I feel it has screwed my system up. I need to get back to what is natural.

Physicians don't want to take time from their busy schedule to listen to how you feel. They know so much. I know my body pretty well. What works for one may not for another. He said, "I am talking. I have to now rely on my own intuition.

Very sad what this industry has done to itself. I started taking my meds in , I started with Hyper thyroids and now I am Hypo I am still at and have been for years. I did get to but gained my weight back quick.

I have dieted, exercised, walked, and I can't seem to lose weight. I was never this big until I started taking these meds. I read someone else gained weight and they look like they were 6 months pregnant, that's how I look.

My stomach is out there and it is uncomfortable and doesn't look right. I have decided to stop taking these meds at least for 6 months to see what happens.

But the kicker is that I am not allowed to going to any other doctor with the Froedtert systom because because they have this crazy rules. I stupid is that. I take levothyroxine and Dr told me to lose weight. I've been on strict diet due to taking these pills I gained 25 lbs.. I was in years!! I don't want to take them. They stress me out trying to lose weight n I'm gaining. I am getting depressed if anything. Diagnosed 6 yrs ago hypothyroidism my Dr has increased my mcg to my weight has gone from to I stopped taking levo for several months and I lost a few pounds.

Decided to see an endocrinologist and see if there were other problems, all she did was check thyroid put me back on levo and I gained 5 more pounds. I hate this medication. I am going back to all natural way, again. My Dr said I would be so tired bc my thyroid levels would be low. Well I am fine. Will check back in 2 months to update. All I can say is if you are considering quitting the drug The exact same thing has happened to me, I exercise, eat right, and the scale won't budge.

I am also extremely fatigued and tried, so the other I decided to stop taking this med and this is my second day off and boy the energy I have. I will be anxious to see if the weight comes off, went from to I am happy to report that since March my weight has gone from down to I do exercise and watch what I eat.

I take daily vitamins and B12 which was recommended when I was diagnosed. I am not tired as doctor predicted. I wish everyone luck if you get off this evil medication. I'm in a similar situation - can you share how long it took to lose weight gained on Synthroid and any special things you did to get there?

I stopped taking med in March. I exercise 3 or 4 times week on my Gazelle for 30 minutes. I drink lots of water, no sodas and ocassionally tea. I have lost 5 more lbs since July. My pregnant looking belly is GONE!!! She started at 50mcg then to 75mcg and stayed there until last year. Almost immediately she started to gain weight rapidly She has gained between 25 to 30 lbs mainly in her middle and has a belly which she never had before Her T3 was in range but on low end of range but her GP refused to add T3 or put her on dessicated.

The GP is her primary care Dr. I should her this site with so many having same issue. She went off levo for two weeks and started to lose weight and puffy face started to go away. Then someone at work scared her with horror stories of what can happen when you stop taking She has started to gain again.

Please someone tell me if she can safely go off You probably should talk to your daughter's GP before going off the meds. My GP approved me weaning off because I was borderline low to begin with and did not feel better. I had the same symptoms as your daughter.

I gained about 15 pounds in 3 weeks with no diet or exercise change after starting Synthroid and Cytomel. I also was so bloated that I looked pregnant and my face was puffy - particularly under my eyes.

My GP had me take meds every other day for a week, then take half dose every other day for a week, then stop. To be honest, I was so eager to get off the meds that I weaned over about 5 days instead of 2 weeks. It's been 3 weeks since I took my last dose.

I haven't weighed myself yet, but I feel loads better and less bloated, and my clothes are almost fitting. I would guess that I've lost pounds in the last 2 weeks. I still have a ways to go but am very careful with my diet and exercising a lot. My GP also advised that I work to detox to get the meds out of my system faster. The plan is to do bloodwork again in about 2 months to see how my body has reacted to no meds. Unless it's really bad I'm not going back on meds.

I hate this medicine as well, I've gained weight and I'm always tired I'm getting off this medicine pronto! Weight is down to , slow process but I am losing it despite what my Dr said. For any of you that have problems with feeling tired, try taking time release B mcg. And be sure you take time release.

If I miss one day I really feel it. Good Luck to all that decide to get off this horrible drug!!! I feel that I made the best choice for me. I am going to stop the synthroid, I have gained 20 pounds in 3 months.

I am fatigued also. Why should I be a big fat thing laying on the couch. I've been off levo 5 weeks now I give you a lot of Kudos. I myself have gone on the weight loss journey. I have lost pounds but still have around to lose. I was so proud of myself and what I was able to achieve with a healthy dose of exercise and eating right. I find though the last bit of weight to be very discouraging to lose.

I have been trying to get into a more healthy habits like eating and exercising, but the food I always see looks horrible and I am not a big fan of exercising either! After reading a few of your blogs so far, I am truly inspired to lose some weight and even become Paula Deen along the way. Your recipes look amazing and you are truly an inspiration for many!
